With Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate from Kharsia Assembly constituency Vijay Jaiswal declaring to support Congress candidate Umesh Patel, the constituency is going to witness a direct contest between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Notably, Bureaucrat turned politician O.P. Chaudhary is the BJP candidate from Kharsia .
Kharsia is a Congress Bastion and never ever a candidate from any other party had recorded victory from there.
Chaudhary, who belongs to the majority and influential Agharia community of the region, had put a big challenge before Congress. A tough contest is expected from there and Umesh Patel who belongs to the same community as O P Chaudhary, is taking the contest seriously and has thrown all his effort to retain the seat.
Meanwhile, the BSP candidate, Vijay Jaiswal, who was supported by Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (Jogi) (JCC) (J), withdrew his nomination on Monday in favour of Congress candidate Umesh Patel.
The reason Jaiswal cited that anyhow BJP has to be defeated and his candidature might hamper the winning chances of Umesh Patel because of bifurcation of anti-BJP votes.
