A Digital Controller System was inaugurated by Biswarup Saha, GM I/C (Mills) at the Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) recently, a BSP Press release informed.
On this occasion GM I/C Mills congratulated the team and asked the team to expand this system to other equipment.
AK Singh, GM (Plate Mill) appreciated the effort and appealed to come up with more in house projects in future.

This roller table drive controls 40 rollers driven by 220 v 6.8 kw DC motors. The Roll table Thyristor drive was of BHEl installed by Russians at the time of plate mill commissioning. The technology is now obsolete and spare cards were also not available. Also Incidences of breakdowns, fuse blowing and tripping of drive were frequent. The team interfaced the spare Siemens Digital Controller available with shop to analog BHEl Thyristor drive utilising in-house resources, the Press release informed.
