Diesel quota for civic bodies fixed

The Chhattisgarh Government has fixed diesel quota for the various civic bodies in the State. The quota is for running tractors engaged in sanitation, construction and water supply activities. The decision was taken to bring fiscal discipline and incurring minimal fuel expenses, an official press statement said on Monday. For the current fiscal, the State has allotted 2,400 liters of diesel to Municipal Corporations, 1800 liters to Municipal Councils and 1200 liters to Nagar Panchayats.

According to the order released by State Urban  Administration and Development Department, all civic bodies have been directed to prepare annual estimate of the diesel consumed by every vehicle (tractors) on monthly and yearly basis. The Commissioners of civic bodies have been asked to get the estimates prepared. They have been strictly warned that if diesel consumption limit crosses the allotted limit then the cost of extra consumption would be deducted from their salaries as disciplinary action. However, if due to some emergency reasons, there is a need for extra diesel requirement, then prior permission is to be taken from Director, Urban Administration and Development Department.
