Deputy Director General (Jails), K.K. Gupta, on Friday inspected the Ambikapur Central Jail where more than a hundred prisoners are reportedly affected with diarrhoea outbreak.

After the inspection, Gupta removed Assistant Jail Superintendent (AJS) M.N. Pradhan.

Till further orders he has been attached to Sub Jail Manendragarh. In place of Pradhan, AJS of Sub Jail Manendragarh Hitendra Singh Thakur had been posted at Central Jail Ambikapur.

On the other hand, looking at the seriousness of the outbreak, on the directives of District Collector Kiran Kaushal a health camp has been established in the Central Jail where the doctors are constantly monitoring the health of affected prisoners.

Instead of water supply from the bore-well of Jail, Municipal Corporation is providing water tankers for supply of potable water. The Jail Superintendent, Rajendra Gayakwad, had taken diet chart from the Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) of the district and is strictly following it in providing food to the prisoners, officials informed.
