Eighteen patients of diarrhea have been admitted to a hospital in Masturi in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur district, the authorities said on Monday. Their condition is said to be stable.
Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Bilaspur Dr Pramod Mahajan said the cases were detected in Mata Chowk and Netaji Nagar areas. The patients have been admitted to the Community Health Centre.
He said that turbidity in the water after rains had caused the disease. A team of doctors and experts will visit the area on Tuesday.
The villagers registered a complaint regarding vomiting and diarrhea. The villagers admitted that they had consumed muddy water from hand pumps. Now, three hand pumps in the village have been sealed.
As a precaution, the villagers were advised to drink water by adding chlorine.
