Dial 112 service crosses six lakh service requests

Published on:

Chhattisgarh’s ambitious Dial 112 service has crossed six lakh (about 6.1 lakh) service requests (Calls for Service or CFS) since its launch in September 2018.

This is the actual number of genuine calls received and assistance offered in various situations wherein citizens have reached out for help through Dial 112 service. Citizens call 112 - a dedicated number 24X7 for issues related to medical emergencies, crimes, fire brigade assistance, natural calamities and even psychological counseling     support.

Chhattisgarh is the first state in India to implement an integrated emergency response system (including integrated command & control facility) as per the NERS (Nationwide Emergency Response System) guidelines. Now, few other states have also followed Chhattisgarh’s    example and is implementing such projects.

Tata Projects Limited   handles the integrated      emergency response system (including integrated          command & control facility) for Chhattisgarh Police Department. The project has currently been implemented across 11 of the state’s 27      districts.

Earlier, various states had emergency response systems but followed a piecemeal approach which involved a specific number for medical emergencies, another number for crime and police related services, and some other   number for fire brigade.
