State Chief Secretary Vivek Dhand on Wednesday visited the home of the late VP Shastri, a Forest Department employee, who was one of the seven election duty staff killed in a landmine attack by left wing insurgents in Bijapur district of Bastar on April 12. Dhand met Shastri’s family and offered his condolence over his demise in the attack.
It may be recalled that the insurgents triggered a landmine on Kutru-Ketulnaar Road, when a bus carrying the polling party members was returning after conducting lok Sabha polls in Bijapur district, resulting in the death of seven polling personnel.
The Chief Secretary told Shastri’s family that Governor Shekhar Dutt and Chief Minister Raman Singh have conveyed condolence to all the families of the martyred employees. Dhand assured all possible assistance to the deceased employee’s family.
