DGP to monitor working of TIs

nChhattisgarh Director General of Police (DGP) D.M. Awasthi will now on directly monitor the working of Thana In-charge (TIs) and police stations across the state -- and those who fail to control crime will face strict action.

This was decided at a virtual workshop of TIs held on Thursday.

“The police headquarters will now on monitor working of TIs. All TIs will be connected via a WhatsApp group where they will give information about major criminal incidents in their area and action taken. I will monitor the group,” the DGP was quoted as saying in a press release.

TIs who fail to control crime will have to face strict disciplinary action, Awasthi said.

In view of the rapid spread of Covid-19, the DGP added that only the victims of crime should approach the police station.

Awasthi asked TIs to take quick action in cases related to women and       children. There is a need to improve the working of police stations, he added.

After one month, the working of TIs will be reviewed. Those failing to control crime will face action while those performing well will be rewarded, he said.

The major tasks of TIs include controlling crime, overseeing thorough investigation to nab criminals, maintaining law and order and better coordination between police and citizens.
