DGP asks SPs to take care of Covid-19 positive cops

So far 114 police personnel have been infected by coronavirus in Chhattisgarh, and Director General of Police D.M. Awasthi has asked Superintendents of Police to ensure that such policemen and their families are taken good care of.

A responsible police officer must visit the homes of policemen battling Covid-19 and ensure the supply of ration and daily use items, Awasthi said in a letter quoted in an official statement issued on Wednesday.

“All unit in-charge should make sure that those policemen who have tested Covid positive are paid a visit by the police reserve in-charge or other    officer. The officers, while maintaining social distancing and other norms, will make sure the affected families are receiving ration and daily use items,” the DGP said.

Awasthi also said that high-quality masks should be supplied to the family members of the affected police personnel so that they don't get infected too.

He asked policemen on lockdown duty to carry their own food and water. The reserve-in charge will have to make sure that those police personnel doing regular duty get good food and water, the press release said.

Awasthi advised family members of the infected policemen to tell their children to remain at home and avoid contact with neighbours in the police lines.

If any person in the affected family shows Covid symptoms, they should be kept in isolation and undergo Covid test, he said.
