Chief Minister Raman Singh on Tuesday said that the development of villages and its economy is dependent on co-operative societies.
‘Hamar Chhattisgarh’ project is meant for the citizens to be emotionally involved with the capital, he said.
Singh was addressing about 400 representatives from the co-operatives’ sector and the farming community of Maanpur, Mohala, Chowki and Chuhikadaan from Rajnandgaon district here.
Singh said that ‘Hamar Chhattisgarh’’ is primarily meant for encouraging the panchayats’ representatives and co-operative societies to follow the inclusive development of the villages.
The gram panchayats, janpad panchayats and zilla panchayats’ and co-operatives’ societies representatives had been aligned with the ‘Hamar Chhattisgarh’ project, he said.
The Co-Operatives pay around Rs 8,000 crore Minimum Support Price (MSP) for 65 lakh metric tonnes paddy of the farmers. This is the largest set-up of purchase of paddy in the entire country, Singh said.
The Co-Operatives play a prominent role in the successful implementation of the rural projects, he said.
Singh said that people’s representatives from far-flung regions of the State had got an opportunity to observe the rapid developments in the capital and they were updated on various projects.
They toured Indira Gandhi Agriculture University, Mantralaya, Assembly, Science Centre, Purkhouti Mukhtangan, Jaungle Safari and Botanical Gardens, he said.
