Angry over the denial of ticket to him, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Dhamtari district vice president Dayaram Sahu held a meeting of his supporters at Devpur and accused top State leaders of partiality.

Making an appeal to the party workers he said time has come to teach senior leaders a lesson for ignoring the interest of the grass root party workers. He also called them to demonstrate their strength in the Assembly election which will be held next month. Sahu was interested to contest from Dhamtari constituency but he was denied a ticket by the party. After consulting his supporters and other party workers, he decided to contest as an independent. He has already purchased nomination papers, his supporters said.

He has also started holding meetings in different places of his constituency. It was part of his campaign that he held a meeting at Devpur, they said. Speaking to party workers, Sahu said, the party in every election promises to give him party ticket, but later denies. He also alleged that grass root workers and leaders were always neglected in the party.

Those who have strong public base were always denied tickets as a result the party faces trouble, he said. Since the party workers want me to contest the election, I have decided to file my nomination papers on October 31, he said.
