The two semi-final matches for IPlT-20 season six scheduled at Chennai has been shifted to Delhi following the decision of Tamil Nadu government of not allowing to play Sri lankan players in the state, informed Rajiv Shukla IPl chairman addressing a press conference here on Sunday.

The finals of this season will be held at Kolkata, Rajiv Shukla said. As per the rules of IPl, final match of any season is played in the home ground of winner of the last season and the semi finals  are played in the grounds of runner up team informed Rajiv Shukla. Since Kolkata Knight Rider had won the previous season and Chennai Super Kings lost to Kolkata in the finals so the semis were scheduled at Chennai. However, protests are going on in Chennai against Sri lankan players so we decided to shift the venue to Delhi, said that IPl Chairman Rajiv Shukla.

“We cannot disallow a team to play without their full strength because it has Sri lankan players in their playing squad,” said Rajiv Shukla. He also lauded the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh (CSCS) and state government for creating a world class infrastructure for the cricket game.

Replying the question over permanent membership of CSCS in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Shukla said that CSCS presently has associate membership and after they complete five years as associate members, the BCCI board will take the decision over imparting CSCS permanent membership. Commenting over the possibilities of more cricket matches in Chhattisgarh, Shukla said after considering the infrastructure created in State, it has defiantly turned out as a successful venue and it is under our consideration for next matches and added that CSCS is the first associate member who has been awarded IPl matches. According to Shukla hospitality is also good in state and said Raipur is one of the finest venues. “Raipur has got IPl matches and will continue getting matches in future,” Rajiv Shukla assured.
