Launching a scathing attack on the Modi government, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel urged the people of Bhilai, called a Mini India, to spread the message to uproot the BJP in the ensuing Assembly elections in five states.
“The prices of diesel and petrol were reduced by the BJP government by Rs 10 and Rs 5 respectively after their shameful defeat in recent by-elections in Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Karnataka," Baghel thundered.
"If this trend of defeats continues in the ensuing elections in the five states, the prices will come down to the level it was during the UPA regime in 2104,” he added.
Earlier, the Chief Minister launched a fortnight-long ‘Jan Jagran Abhiyan’ on the occasion of the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
A foot march was begun on this occasion from Potti Sriramulu Chowk and culminated as a public meeting at Lal Maidan Bhilai.
The major issues raised in the Congress march were inflation, monetization policy and farm protest.
The 15-day programme will include activities like padyatras, shutdowns and dharnas across the state and will end on November 29.
