Deepak's exit a boon for party, says CSM

Disassociation of Deepak Sahu from the party has proved to be an advantage as the party is now free from the nepotism and allegation of promoting Sahu community, said general secretary of Chhattisgarh Swabhiman Manch (CSM) Vishnu Baghel on Wednesday.

He was talking to the mediapersons during a press conference in the city. Sahu’s exit from the party has helped CSM build a stronger inner circle and assign clearer role to the party members, he said. Notably the party was reconstituted after the former President of the party Deepak Sahu and nine other members deserted the party. While Sahu merged with BJP on February 24, some members quit the party because of its abysmal performance in the Assembly elections.

Baghel said that the party will not merge with either Congress or BJP even after the results of lok Sabha elections are declared. Accusing Chief Minister Raman Singh-led BJP government in the state of not delivering his promises, Baghel said that the government claims of ‘zero hour power cuts’ but villages in interior areas of the state are constantly suffering 4-8 hours of power cuts.

Taking a pot shot at BJP government’s advertisements, President of the party Mannulal Parganhiya said that contrary to Raman Singh’s claims, the number of people living below the poverty line has gone up from 35 lakh to 45 lakh. He also said that Rs 200 crore that the state government allotted for the damage of crops because of untimely rains, Parganhiya said that Raman Singh has promised 100 percent insurance of crops of farmers but he failed to deliver his promise.

Chhattisgarh Swabhiman Manch was formed by Deepak Sahu after the demise of his father and politician Tarachand Sahu. The party had contested Assembly elections in November, 2013 but failed to woo voters.
