The crucial meeting of the Congress party's Selection Committee to discuss lok Sabha ticket distribution for the Chhattisgarh seats might take place in New Delhi on Tuesday. Party sources here informed that the former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ajit Jogi is keen to contest polls from either Mahasamund or the Kanker seat. However, sources informed that the party is in favour of Jogi contesting polls from the Bilaspur seat.

No final decision had been taken so far over the candidature of the former Chief Minister because of which candidates for Bilaspur, Mahasamund and Kanker seats could not be decided by the party's Election Commitee during the earlier meetings , sources informed.

According to party sources, more than one lakh people, who were considered to be the traditional voters of the Congress party, have migrated from Bilaspur. As such, besides Jogi, nobody else could give a tough fight to the BJP in the constituency.

However, Jogi’s supporters feel Mahasamund and Kanker seat have been secured for him. However, Jogi had publicly left the issue of his candidature on the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi. The former Chief Minister had already conveyed his feelings with the Congress Screening Committee Chairman Oscar Fernandes.

Candidates for other seats have almost been decided, including that of Ramdevram from Ambikapur, lakheshwar Baghel from Bastar and Purshpadevi Singh from Raigarh, sources informed.

leader of the Opposition in the Chhattisgarh Assembly TS Singhdeo is already in Delhi while Congress party's State President Bhupesh Baghel is expected to be in New Delhi tomorrow for attending the meeting.

It was learnt that Congress party's In-charge for Chhattisgarh BK Hariprasad and National Spokesperson Bhakt Charandas might hold discussions with both the leaders over selection of candidates for the lok Sabha seats in the State.
