Asserting the death of automobile businessman Rinku Khanuja, being interrogated by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the alleged sex CD scandal, was a ‘political murder’, claimed Congress. The party leaders have stated that State Government and CBI was trying to save some ‘influential persons’ in the case.
Notably, Khanuja was an accused in the sex CD case allegedly involving a Chhattisgarh cabinet Minister. He was found dead in mysterious circumstances in his office a couple of months ago in the capital city. He was being quizzed by CBI for last three days continuously before his death.
In a joint press conference Chairman, Communication Wing of Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC), Shailesh Nitin Trivedi, Chairman Medical Wing of CGPCC, Dr Rakesh Gupta and former Raipur Mayor Kiranmayee Nayak said it was easy for the government and CBI to crack the case but even after 50 days but nothing substantial have emerged from the probe.
Addressing media persons, Trivedi said the evidences found at the incident site clearly indicate that the matter was of 'murder'. Rinku has told his family members that he was going to become an ‘approver’. The CBI is still silent on to who according to Rinku would be pointed as accused.
The needle of suspicion points towards the person who is likely to be named as accused, might be behind the death, the leaders said. When a person was been interrogated by the CBI continuously for three days, the agency silence over the death raises many questions on their functioning, the Congress leaders said.
The leaders also raised doubts over the post-mortem report. They alleged that intentionally wrong entries have been made in it. There are several disparities in the report which is raising the suspicion over the intention of the state government, they said.
The leaders said they had asked for call details of Rinku, CCTV footage of CBI office, video of post mortem, reason for having mud in the toes of Rinku Khanuja, details of material found in the pocket of Rinku Khanuja, his mobile location during the period from June 1 to 5, but they are still awaiting the details.
