My first priority would be to deal with crime against women in the district, said newly-appointed Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Neha Pandey while talking to reporters after taking over charge here on Sunday.
“Being a lady officer, women can easily inform me about atrocities happening on them. Apart from women issues, all criminal activities will be under police radar,” she said.
Notably, Gariaband is one of the insurgency-infested districts of Chhattisgarh and the new ASP is the lone lady officer appointed in the district after a gap of seven years.
She had also served in Narayanpur district before being posted as ASP at Gariaband. Pandey had also earlier been posted in Jashpur and Raigarh districts.
After joining as ASP, she also visited Chhura, Fingeshwar and Rajim block of Gariaband district. There is much similarity between Jashpur and Gariband district, she opined.
“Once the school and colleges open, I will talk to girl students over various issues so that they may inform us about any kind of wrong doings happening on them,” she added.
