The daughter-in-law of senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Nandkumar Sai has cast serious allegations on the latter’s family for turning her out of the house by calling her a ‘witch’.
The victim Hemwanti Sai has approached the representatives of Kanwar Samaj seeking justice with a complaint that she had not been allowed to meet her sons for the past four months.
Following the complaint, a meeting was convened by the Kanwar Samaj at its Central Headquarters at Pumpshala in which the Nandkumar Sai denied the allegations.
Sai, who is a tribal leader and resident of Kariyamunda of Jashpur region had been accused alongwith his son Arvind Sai by Hemwanti Sai of harassing her by calling her a ‘Witch’.
During the meeting Hemwanti Sai alleged that she was married to Arvind Sai at Chadri Munda of Jharkhand a decade back. The couple have two sons from marriage named Vaibhav and Prabhav.
Hemwanti alleged that the dispute erupted from the issue of her objecting to Arvind going for taking a bath with other women.
She allegedly said that after the objections were raised , the in-laws sent her to her maternal home to stay there for a week after which, they said, she would be brought back.
However, Hemwanti alleged that the in-laws had kept her two sons with themselves.
Reacting to this , the MP Nandkumar Sai said that he is surprised by such allegations. ‘She has not been harassed in any way and any decision of the Kanwar Samaj is acceptable to him,” he said.
At the same time, the President of Kanwar Samaj Shobhan Badaik said that it is unfortunate for the Samaj that such a thing is happening in the family of a prominent person of the country .
‘The Samaj’s effort would be that the daughter-in-law gets justice and there is harmony in the family’, he said.
The father of victim , Gangadhar Mungel said in the meeting that they have approached the Samaj for maintaining cordial relationship with the MP's family.
‘However, despite the Samaj office-bearers persuading Arvind Sai, the latter had not listened to us. The decision is now in the hands of the Panchayat’, he added.
