Reiterating his charges against the State Government, Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee acting President Charandas Mahant again on Thursday said that the May 25 Maoist attack on the Congress convoy at Jeeram Valley in Darbha was a well thought out political conspiracy to snatch out our precious leaders from us as the Parivartan Yatra was getting vigorous support from the masses . Snubbing the State administration, Mahant said after committing such a blunder the Government is now terming it a simple lapse in security.
Notably, Mahant was addressing a public meet on the occasion of commencement of the ‘Balidani Maati Kalash Yatra’ Thursday morning at Rajim. He called on people to uproot the corrupt Bharatiya Janata Party regime which failed on all fronts including providing security to opposition leaders.
Meanwhile, to pay tributes throughout State to its ‘departed leaders’ CGPCC took out Kalash Yatra amid tight vigil of district police from Rajim, which is considered as working area of Shukla family as former union minister V C Shukla was also among the leaders martyred in the Darbha Maoist attack. On this occasion CGPCC acting president Charandas Mahant, All India Congress Committee Treasurer Motilal Vora, CGPCC programme coordinator Bhupesh Baghel, former State Congress president Dhanendra Sahu, Satya Narayan Sharma, Mahendra Bahadur Singh, Devendra Bahadur Singh, MlAs Agni Chandrakar, Motilal Sahu, daughter of V C Shukla Pratibha Pandey, son of late Mahendra Karma Deepak Karma besides other Congress leaders were present at Rajim.
According to party sources, Kalash Yatra will reach Gariaband district headquarters Thursday evening and stay there. On Friday it would visit Devbhog, Dhurvagudi, Mainpur, Dhavalpur and return to Gariaband for night halt. On July 6 it would start journey from Gariaband’s Gandhi Maidan and also visit Chhura and Fingeshwar block headquarters.
Meanwhile, stung by its failure at Darbha, BJP Government appeared serious this time about providing security cover to opposition sponsored Kalash Yatra. As the Yatra is scheduled to visit Mainpur, Devbhog, Dhurvagudi and Dhavalpur – all rebel infested area, the State administration has made full proof security arrangements considering the fact that 2 years back on July 20, 2011 Nandkumar Patel, Amitesh Shukla, Satya Narayan Sharma, Omkar Shah, Kuldip Juneja and other Congress leaders were attacked by Maoists between Indagaon and Dhurvagudi while returning from a public meeting. Three people were killed and several injured in that attack even if Patel and other senior leaders had escaped narrowly.
