AVictims of cyber crime can recover their amount if it is reported immediately through the Cyber Crime Helpline       system or police, Additional Superintendent of Police (Technical Services) Kavi Gupta said on Saturday.

He said such funds are immediately tracked and recovered by banks. It is then paid back to the victim.

In Chhattisgarh, in the last one-and-a-half years, Rs 4 crores of swindled money was recovered, said Gupta.

Additional Director General of Police (Technical Services) Pradeep Gupta said a Citizen Financial Fraud Reporting System has been made available on Cybercrime Portal by the police.

Nodal officers of all bank merchants and wallet       companies are connected along with the police.

He said as soon as a complaint of cyber financial fraud is lodged, its           information first reaches the nodal officer of the bank of which the account holder is the applicant.

The nodal officer through the portal informs the bank account holder to whom the amount has been credited. If the amount is available in the account of the accused account holder of the other bank, it is kept on hold.

If the amount has been transferred from the second bank to a third bank, then the nodal officer of the      second bank will inform the third bank. If money is withdrawn from the ATM by the accused, the bank intimates the police, he said.

Therefore, it is necessary that the victim of cyber fraud should file a complaint as soon as possible, he added.

Victims of cyber fraud can lodge a complaint online or register with helpline 1930 or approach the nearest police station.
