CSPGCl to upgrade 'Electrostatic Precipitators' of power plants

Published on:

The Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company ltd (CSPGCl) will be upgrading Electrostatic Precipitators (ESPs) to maintain the Emission level limit of below 50mg/Nm3 at its power plants in the State.

The ESPs would be upgraded for 4X210 MW, Hasdeo Thermal Power Station (HTPS), Korba West and 2X120 MW, Korba Thermal Power Station, Korba East, officials stated.

The company will also soon take up installation and commissioning of 'Continuous Effluent Quality Monitoring System' (CEQMS) for Hasdeo Thermal Power Station (HTPS) and also Korba Thermal Power Station in the State.

Notably, CSPGCl has not only established new power plants over the years but also made qualitative improvement in the existing plants to increase their capacity and PlF besides reduction in specific oil consumption, officials stated.

Notably, overall, Chhattisgarh achieved actual cumulative power generation of  40,173.66 million units (MU) from conventional power stations based in the State of above 25 MW capacity between April-September, 2015, according to the monthly report of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA).

This was compared to 38773.39 MU generated during the corresponding period of the previous year—a growth of 3.61 per cent, it stated.

Chhattisgarh would have 26,012 million units of power available during 2015-16 against the anticipated requirement of 24,980 million units during 2015-16, according to the CEA report.

The State would have 1032 million units (MU) of surplus power generated during 2015-16 and the peak requirement is anticipated at 3,825 MW against the anticipated availability of 3,857 MW- a surplus of 32MW, it stated.

As per CEA's actual power supply position versus load Generation Balance Report ( lGBR) for the year 2014-15, the actual energy shortage in the western region during 2014-15 was higher than the forecasted figure on account of higher energy requirement as compared to availability, the report pointed out.

Meanwhile,  continuing its effort to strengthen transmission facility across the State, the Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Company limited (CSPTCl) recently commissioned the newly set-up 220 kv High Tension Double Circuit line between Mopka and Churi.

The line was commissioned in the presence of senior officials of the company.

With setting up of 95 km long Double Circuit line, 220 substations of Churi, Vishrampur and Kotmikala are going to be with Mopka along with Korba sub station.

For setting up this transmission line around Rs75 crore has been spent.

According to CSPTCl Managing Director Vijay Singh, with commissioning of the newly set up line, ppwer supply is going to reach Mopka (Bilaspur) directly from Korba and power supply to Korba, Churi, Vishrampur and Kotmikala could be ensured from Mopka in emergency-like situation.

Notably, CSPTCl is extensively taking up extension of ultras High Tension Sub Station and Transmission line work across the State.

On the same note, around 3 kms long second circuit transmission line of 132 kv Kurud (Bhilai) sub station has been recently powered in the presence of company’s Managing Director Vijay Singh and other senior officials of CSPTCl. With installation of two transformers of 40 MVA, the problem of over loading on single line has been resolved, said officials.

Earlier, Kurud (Bhilai) sub station was getting its power supply from only 132 kv transmission line, but with electrification of the new transmission line, the supply to Kurud (Bhilai) substation is going to be uninterrupted. The set-up of this line would be strengthening the power supply facility in Kurud and its neighbouring areas. Moreover, it would also resolve the problem of load shedding being witnessed in the area.

As a preventive measure, the officials of CSPTCl have asked the general public for maintaining necessary distance from the towers, said officials.
