The Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company ltd (CSPGCl) will soon take up installation and commissioning of 'Continuous Effluent Quality Monitoring System' (CEQMS) for Hasdeo Thermal Power Station (HTPS and Korba Thermal Power Station in the State.
Notably, CSPGCl has not only established new power plants over the years but also made qualitative improvement in the existing plants to increase their capacity and PlF besides reduction in specific oil consumption, officials stated.
Notably, overall, Chhattisgarh achieved actual cumulative power generation of 40,173.66 million units (MU) from conventional power stations based in the State of above 25 MW capacity between April-September, 2015, according to the monthly report of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA).
This was compared to 38773.39 MU generated during the corresponding period of the previous year—a growth of 3.61 per cent, it stated.
Chhattisgarh would have 26,012 million units of power available during 2015-16 against the anticipated requirement of 24,980 million units during 2015-16, according to the CEA report.
The State would have 1032 million units (MU) of surplus power generated during 2015-16 and the peak requirement is anticipated at 3,825 MW against the anticipated availability of 3,857 MW- a surplus of 32MW, it stated.
As per CEA's actual power supply position versus load Generation Balance Report ( lGBR) for the year 2014-15, the actual energy shortage in the western region during 2014-15 was higher than the forecasted figure on account of higher energy requirement as compared to availability, the report pointed out.
Notably, in the Steel sector, the Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) -- the flagship unit of Maharatna company, Steel Authority of India ltd (SAIl) would soon set up an Online Effluent Quality Monitoring System (EQMS) along with data up-linking to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board (CECB).
The system would be installed for Water Management Department of the Bhilai Steel Plant, officials stated.
It may be recalled that the Bhilai Steel Plant received the PM’s Trophy for the Best Performing Integrated Steel Plant (ISP) in the country for the year 2011-12 at Rourkela in Odisha .
Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented the Trophy for Best Integrated Steel Plant (ISP) in the country to the then SAIl Chairman CS Verma and Chief Executive Officer, BSP, S Chandrasekaran in presence of Governor of Odisha, S.C. Jamir, Union Minister for Mines & Steel, Narendra Singh Tomar and CM of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik.
With this, BSP achieved the unparalleled distinction of being the only steel plant in the country, public or private, to have been selected to receive this pinnacle recognition for an unprecedented 11 times out of 21 times that the award has been given away so far. This speaks volumes about the commitment and dedication of the workforce of Bhilai Steel Plant, officials stated.
