A CRPF trooper was killed while another was injured in an  IED blast triggered by Maoists who also fired at the security forces in the restive Dantewada district, police said on Tuesday.

The incident occurred when a joint team of CRPF’s 231st battalion and District Force was patrolling around under-construction Aranpur (Dantewada)-Jagargunda (Sukma) road which passes through the dense forests coming under Aranpur police station limits, Superintendent of Police (SP) Dantewada, Kamlochan Kashyap said.

Reinforcement was rushed to the spot and the injured personnel were airlifted to Raipur for treatment, he added.

"Head constable Kamal Singh succumbed to injuries while being airlifted to Raipur. Another head constable, Anil Kumar was shifted to a hospital in Raipur," the SP said, while adding that both the personnel belong to the CRPF's 231st battalion.
