CPCB to install 2 aiir monitoring stations in Raipur

Published on:

Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) will install two “Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations” (CAAQMS) under CPSU-CSR Project in Raipur, officials informed.

To monitor ambient air quality in various cities, CPCB has decided to install CAAQMS at 60 locations in 38 million-plus population cities and State capitals in the country.

The equipment will have Meteorological Sensors for Wind Direction, Wind Speed, Ambient Temperature, Rainfall, Relative Humidity, Solar Radiation and Telescoping Crank , they informed.

CPCB has developed a network of real time data from CAAQM stations being operated by CPCB, SPCBs and PCCs. This data is provided to all stake holders and being published in public domain for taking corrective measures in time.

In the beginning of the year 2016, CPCB network had data connected from 40 stations in 22 cities spread in 11 states which has been expanded to total 54 stations located in 33 cities of 12 states.

CPCB is focussing on strengthening of ambient air quality monitoring network for assessment of air quality at national, regional and local level.

NAMP stations operated through State Pollution Control Boards needs further strengthening to monitor all notified parameters for ambient air, besides emphasis is being given for establishment of Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations (CAAQM) in all major cities, they stated.
