Although the coronavirus infection has slowed down, the number of deaths is still high in Chhattisgarh, the Health Department said on Monday.
The Covid death audit report analysis of January 22 to 28 shows 43 persons died due to Covid-19, a press release said.
Of these deaths, 67 percent were men and 33 percent women. Fourteen of the dead were also over 60 years of age.
“The audit report revealed that 81 percent deaths happened due to co-morbidity while only 19 percent deaths were due to Covid. Of these, the fatality rate of patients above 60 years was 6.66 percent while that between 45 to 59 was 1.59 percent,” the press release said.
The reports said that 35 percent of the patients could not survive for 24 hours while 7 percent died in 2-3 days.
Doctors have again said that if the elderly are having cough-cold, fever and fatigue, they should immediately consult a doctor and get Covid tested, the press release said.
In Baloda Bazar, a man had cough and fever since December 29 but he took local treatment. On January 12 he reached a clinic and took some medicine. On January 19 he developed breathing trouble but was found Covid negative in antigen test. A TrueNat test showed him Covid positive. On January 22, he died before receiving any treatment.
