Seven deaths of Covid patients were reported in Chhattisgarh while the state crossed the 11,000 Covid positive mark on Friday.
In all, 298 fresh positive cases were recorded on Friday while 221 Covid patients were discharged from hospitals, officials said.
Leader of the Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik was also found Covid positive. He tweeted that he was going to AIIMS Raipur for treatment.
“After I noticed initial symptoms of corona I was tested and reported positive. My health is fine now and I am heading to AIIMS for further treatment. I request that whosoever came in contact with me in the past few days please isolate yourself and get tested,” Dharamlal Kaushik tweeted.
Among the seven deceased was a 32-year-old man from Saraipali in Mahasamund district. He was admitted in Dr BR Ambedkar Memorial Hospital, Raipur, on August 1 with complaints of breathlessness, cough and fever.
He was found Covid positive on August 4. The man developed acute pneumonitis and died of cardiopulmonary arrest and acute respiratory failure on Thursday, the officials said.
A 55-year-old man from Arang block in Raipur was admitted in a private hospital on July 31 after a snake bite. On August 5 he was shifted to Ambedkar Hospital and was detected Covid positive. On Thursday he died of sepsis, respiratory failure and other complications.
A 19-year-old youth from Bhatagaon locality in Raipur was admitted in Ambedkar Hospital on August 1 with breathlessness, fever and cough. He had tuberculosis in both lungs and was detected Covid positive. He died of cardiorespiratory arrest on Thursday, the officials said.
A 50-year-old woman native of Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, who had tuberculosis and other complications was admitted in a private hospital. She was detected Covid positive and later moved to Ambedkar Hospital where she died on Friday.
A 50-year-old man from Raigarh was admitted in a private hospital in Raigarh on August 4 due to fever, blood in cough and breathlessness. He was a diabetic and died on August 5. He too was detected Covid positive.
A 65-year-old man from Dharamjaigarh, suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure and coronary heart disease, was admitted in a private hospital. He was detected Covid positive and shifted to AIIMS Raipur. He died on Thursday, the officials said.
A five-month-old boy whose parents were also detected Covid positive and was admitted in Balodabazar Covid Hospital died on Friday, the officials added.
