In a major jolt to the Congress in poll-bound Chhattisgarh, a local court on Saturday rejected a plea filed by State Congress veteran Bupesh Baghel and others against Chief Minister Raman Singh in a matter related to providing a massive chunk of Government land to Alumnium major BAlCO allegedly at throwaway prices.
The case was rejected by Special Judge ND Tigala on Saturday. Discouraged by the court rulings, the Congress said in a statement that it would continue to keep up fighting against the CM on the issue.
Notably, the Congress party in July last year had moved a plea in the special court against the CM, then Chief Secretary P Joy Oommen and the then CEO of BAlCO (Bharat Aluminium Company limited) Gunjan Gupta for an alleged massive land forgery on Government land by the Balco.
Shailesh Nitin Trivedi media in charge of Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee informed that about 914 acres of private land and 1866 acres of government land were given to BAlCO owned by Vedanta Group at the rate of Rs 200 per acres. BAlCO is located at Korba town in Chhattisgarh, some 225 km north from Raipur.
