After a dispute over mid day meal, a corporator and his wife beat up a woman and her daughter associated to a self help group (SHG). When the victim lodged a complaint in thana against the accused, police arrested corporator’s wife while the corporator was absconding.
Notably, a meeting of the women self help group engaged in mid day meal preparation was held on April 26 in which wife of the corporator of Narayanpur ward no 4 (Banglapara) Siyaram Netam reportedly had some tiff with one of the members of the SHG named Radha. Netam’s wife is secretary of the said self help group. Enraged over the tiff, Corporator and his wife allegedly beat up Radha and her daughter mercilessly after entering her house Monday night. Not only that, when the victim was going to lodge complaint against them in thana, the corporator and his wife again intercepted her mid way and again thrashed the poor lady. They also threatened her not to lodge complaint in police. After receiving the complaint, the police arrested wife of the corporator while Netam himself was absconding.
