Chhattisgarh Covid-19 warriors appointed during the pandemic under the National Health Mission staged on Saturday a demonstration at the Indoor stadium complex here seeking re-employment.
Sish Pal Dheemar said during the Covid, vacancies of nursing staff, lab technicians, ward boys, sanitary staff and others were released in each district for taking care of the patients admitted in hospitals.
The vacancies were released by each District Chief Medical and Health Officer under the National Health Mission. Around 4,500 staff were recruited, most of who were working in private hospitals.
The time period of appointment was three months but it was extended to six months. Now, the termination order has been issued to everyone, he pointed out.
He said most of them left their private jobs to join the government on contract but were now jobless.
“Our demand is that the government should absorb all the staff. Compensation should be given to those who reported positive. Compensation and job be provided to the next kin of those who died during service,” he said.
