A day after the alleged attempt to sacrifice an eight-year old-boy in Than Khamaria area of the district by workers of a private contractor came to light, the district police have claimed it was yet to be established that the boy was actually abducted for making a human sacrifice.
Three persons have been arrested in this connection informed SP Bemeratra Parul Mathur on Tuesday. Meanwhile, police force was deployed in Than Khamaria as a precautionary measure to prevent any untoward incident. A case of abduction, kidnapping with intention of murder has been registered with Khamaria Police Station against three persons who were handed over to the police by a mob, SP said. The accused were identified as Jaisingh, native of Satna, MP, Mohammed Altaf, a native of Haryana and Amarsingh from Raipur. “We have yet not found sufficient evidence that the boy was captured for sacrifice,” the SP told The Pioneer. Mathur further stated cases have also been registered against more than two dozen people for creating ruckus, destruction of property and arson. It may be mentioned that on Monday, a group of villagers had reportedly rescued Ankush Nirmalkar, an eight-year-old boy who was allegedly put in a gunny bag for being sacrificed at a construction site by some labourers of a contractor who has been awarded the contract for construction of Anicut.
Furious villagers later torched three dumpers, two JCBs and a Mixture Machine on the construction site and also staged gherao of the local Police Station while demanding the arrest of the accused besides stern action against them. Police had to resort to cane charge for quelling the mob.
