Cops clueless on Kamla Devi's 'poison-in-food' case

The Janjgir police is finding the case of  alleged provocation made to the cook for mixing drugs in meal of BJP Member of Parliament Kamla Devi Patle ‘a hard nut to crack.’ Besides registering FIR in the case, it has not been able to find any breakthrough so far.

Superintendent of Police Janjgir Champa while speaking to The Pioneer over phone said: 'We have registered a case in this connection. We have also sent details of suspects to the Crime Investigation Department (CID) Raipur for preparing their portraits and would very soon release it.”

Replying to a query over authenticity of cook Rupendra Kumar’s statement, the SP said after the incident was reported, police enquired about the incident with the shopkeepers and people present on the spot, while the unidentified person had called Rupendra Kumar to pressurize him.

They all either said that they saw no such person or missing the happening, the SP claimed. He further said if such thing had happened then Rupendra should have told it to someone but he travelled 24 kms on foot. “We are keeping all our options open and are investigating from every possible angle,” the SP said.

Meanwhile when contacted Kamladevi Patle the BJP Member of Parliament from Janjgir-Champa she expressed displeasure over the speed of investigation. She said “Two days have passed since the incident has happened. Police is saying that they are investigating but they have not been able to nab the culprits.” She further asserted in one or two days it would be clear whether police is just sitting or is actually investigating the case.

The BJP MP ruled out theory of political conspiracy and said 'I have amicable relations with everyone. In the past also I had never received any kind of warning or threatening from anyone so only after the culprits are nabbed then only the whole picture would be clear” Kamladevi Patel said.  She was of view that if such things happen with a Member of Parliament then anything could happen with a common man.
