It has been more than a week when Raipur police found a letter from a child labourer seeking rescue from a dona-pattal industry in Jhansi Uttar Pradesh, and police is still groping in dark for any breakthrough. Police have even not been able to trace out the person whose mobile number was mentioned in the letter.

The Superintendent of Police Raipur, OP Pal, talking with The Pioneer over phone informed that the number mentioned in letter was switched off for last several months. “We are trying to trace the person whose number was mentioned in the letter,” said SP.

Notably on June 26 a letter was found in a dona-pattal shop supposed to be written by a boy of 13 to 14 years seeking help for rescuing from a dona-pattal making industry in Jhansi Uttar Pradesh where he was forcibly held. later Raipur Police conducted raids in several dona-pattal making cottage industries, but could not find any Child labourer.

The SP informed that the letter did not clarified the place in Jhansi where he (boy) was held due to this reason it is becoming hard for us to locate the boy. In the letter boy had mentioned that he was separated from his family in Delhi while he was about 6 to 7 years old. A man in Delhi found him and brought the boy to Jhanshi where he sold the boy to a dona-pattal making businessman and since then he was living in the dona-pattal making.
