The police had started weighing options on breaking the locks of absconding city-based builder Sanjay Bajpai’s home and the office to seize incriminating documents which may help go deeper into the investigation already underway in the multi-crore Government land encroachment case.
However, police sources said that such a move could be taken only after receiving an order from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) . Once an order is received, the task would be offered to the Special Research Cell. Currently, the matter is being investigated by the Moudahapara Police Station in the city.
Builder Sanjay Bajpai had been on the run evading arrest after a case of Government land encroachment worth crores of rupees at under construction Swagat Vihar Colony came to light.
Based on the probe report of a high-level committee , a case of forgery and cheating was registered against the builder. Bajpai is absconding with his wife , it was learnt.
Meanwhile, the police had launched a massive hunt for arresting Bajpai with no clues on his whereabouts so far. A special police team had also been sent in other states to look out for the builder.
The police had also been trying to find out people who were associated with the builder for questioning them.
