Ahead of the monsoon session of the Chhattisgarh Assembly, around 45,000 contractual government employees across the state are on an indefinite strike since Monday demanding regularization of services.
Chhattisgarh Sarv Vibhagiya Samvida Karmchari Mahasangh President Kaushlesh Tiwari reminded the ruling Congress about its 2018 election pledge to regularize all the employees.
"Barely four months are left for the next assembly elections but our plight remains unheard. We are hence forced to go on strike,” he said
The employees are staging sit-ins in their respective district headquarters from July 3 to 9. If their demand is not fulfilled by then, contractual employees from all 33 districts will gather at Naya Raipur on July 10 to continue with their indefinite strike, Tiwari said.
“In the last four and a half years, we have approached all 90 MLAs and Collectors of 33 districts to press our demand. All our efforts have gone in vain,” Tiwari said.
