With the initiative of State Public Works Department (PWD) offering a road project of a minimum of Rs5 crore as per minimum eligibility criteria, local contractors in Bastar have expressed interest towards such works.
Earlier, only the out-stationed contractors were eligible for these works, officials stated.
Notably, the disinterest shown now by the out-stationed contractors has delayed the process. Another reason behind the interest of local contractors is the exemption being given by the administration in certain rules.
The matter was discussed by Bastar Divisional Commissioner Dilip Wasnikar on Thursday.
He expressed happiness on the road-expansion plan from Raipur to Jagdalpur route and on the construction of Joint Sukma District Office building and Circuit House.
Wasnikar suggested the officials to keep an eye over the paddy brought from other states and also directed officials to provide better facilities at the 258 paddy procurement centres in the division.
Moreover, he directed the officers to ensure the MNGREGA scheme in villages.
He ordered the officials to provide the Smart Card benefits under Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana and Mukyamantri Swasthya Bima Yojana.
The Collector told the participants to provide treatment to the malnourished children in all the Nutritional Rehabilitation Centres.
He highlighted the Deen Dayal Gram Jyoti Yojna and Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana. It is expected to give better facilities to the villagers under both the schemes.
To connect more youngsters with employment opportunities, the Commissioner directed officials to conduct workshops on various vocational skills.
