Prior to the monsoon season, the Kabirdham district administration is aiming to set up one pond in every village panchayat and around 900 wells across the district.
Officials stated that the step is being taken to raise the groundwater level and overcome the drought conditions. Also, it will provide employment opportunities to the residents.
Notably, last Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his radio talk ‘Mann ki Baat’ appealed the citizens to conserve water in villages. The construction of 582 ponds has been sanctioned by the administration. A fund of Rs 60 crore is to be spent for this purpose.
Janpad Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure said the plan of these ponds and wells construction is likely to be completed during the next one-and-half months.
