A policeman allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh district on Sunday, an official said.
Constable Dipak Minj was found hanging in Police Lines here in Uradana locality, Raigarh Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Abhishek Verma said.
Minj, from neighbouring Jashpur district, was posted here at Ajak police station special police station meant to address grievances of SC/ST people for the last one year.
He was staying in a quarter in the Police Lines with his family and was on leave for the last one month, Verma said. He had some medical issue and was undergoing treatment.
The body has been handed over to the family after the post mortem.
"No suicide note was found at the spot and the reason for taking such an extreme step is being ascertained," the official said.
Last month, four policemen committed suicide in three districts in the Naxalite-hit south Bastar region.
