Congress on Saturday turned heat on BJP lok Sabha member from Chhattisgarh Abhishek Singh and suggested him to file a defamation suit against noted lawyer Prashant Bhushan, who accused Singh of having foreign bank accounts.
Singh has dumped all charges and termed allegations as ‘politically motivated’. “If Abhishek Singh has no bank account in foreign, he must file defamation suit against Bhushan, who has revealed it through twitter,'' Pradesh Congress Committee president Bhupesh Baghel said in a Press conference.
Baghel and the PCC have found a much-needed fodder through Bhushan’s tweet to embarrass Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh. Abhishek is the lone son of Raman Singh and he was elected to lok Sabha on BJP ticket from Rajnandgaon seat in 2014 general election.
Baghel along with the leader of the opposition TS Singhdeo maintained that “people in India had in past stashed huge black money in certain foreign countries
and if Abhishek Singh is innocent he must come out clean by offering himself to an investigation.”
Abhishek Singh has strongly denied the allegations levelled by the former AAP leader Bhushan in his tweet that as per ICIJ (International Consortium of Investigative Journalists) website that Chhattisgarh CM’s son had foreign accounts. Raman Singh too has rejected Bhushan’s claims.
“I reiterate that the issue raised regarding my foreign bank account is totally incorrect and politically motivated. I have no bank accounts in foreign countries and not made any kind of investment in foreign companies,” Abhishek Singh said in a statement provided to The Pioneer.
He further added, “as far as the demand for an investigation is concerned, an SIT has been set up by the Central Government on directives of the Supreme Court to probe into all the black money related cases.”
However, the issue of black money involving Abhishek Singh is refusing to die down as Bhushan has responded by stating “If you (Abhishek Singh) don't have foreign accounts @CGAbhishek Singh, who is Abhishek Singh whose account shows your dad Raman Singh’s addIJ Will PM investigateIJ
