Congress to boycott all-party meet

Holding State Government summarily responsible for the Maoist attack on Congress convoy which resulted in murder of 28 Congress leaders and their personal security officials, the opposition Congress Wednesday decided to boycott the all party meeting called by the State Government on May 30.

Notably, the Chief Minister has called an all party meeting on May 30 to discuss the situation arising out of the Darbha massacre and also to chart out future action plan against the Maoists who have stepped up their activities. Chief Minister has appealed all registered political parties to attend the meet to be held at Mahanadi Bhawan on Thursday.

In a party release issued on Wednesday, chief of the Congress media cell Shailesh Nitin Trivedfi charged that the State Government knowingly committed the unpardonable lapses in providing security to the opposition leaders  which resulted in Darbha massacre in which state Congress top leadership was wiped. The State Government was responsible for the murder of all those leaders.

Trivedi alleged that earlier also the State Government has shown its insensitivity on several occasions as it did not accept Congress’ demand for CBI probe in to the alleged death of superintendent of police Vinod Choubey in Maoist attack as well as in Dantewada Jail break case. The State Government also did not made public the agreement reached with Maoists for release of the then Sukma collector Alex Paul Menon.

Undermining of such incidents by the State Government has resulted in the present situation which not only plagued the state but also stunned the entire nation. Discussing any issue by sitting with the State Government will hardly yield any positive result, the party release said.
