The State Congress party has termed the announcement of the new party by former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi a flop show.
President of Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) Bhupesh Baghel said: “he (Jogi) had made
tall claims about the launch of the new party but the claims fall flat.”
Notably, Ajit Jogi who had a track record of being in discontent with the
majority of members in Chhattisgarh Congress
unit also had the verbal
spat with Baghel on
several occasion.
It may be also noted that after the release of an audio tape suggesting fixing of Antagarh bypolls to give a walk over to BJP candidate, Amit Jogi was removed from Chhattisgarh Congress party. Bhupesh Baghel had also recommended removal of Ajit Jogi from party to the party high command.
“Ajit Jogi has made three major announcements today: that he is going to start a new party, has released the manifesto of that party and that he has free himself from Congress,” Baghel said
while adding that since Ajit Jogi is member of
National Congress Working Committee these things have been conveyed to the high command.
Replying to the query about possible action against sitting MlAs who had attended the meeting, Baghel said that party high command will decide the action.
Meanwhile, State Congress spokesperson and general secretary Shailesh Nitin Trivedi opined that it was a flop show.
“Ajit Jogi had claimed that at least 15 sitting MlAs would attend the public meeting, however only three turned out and only 4-5 former MlAs reached Marwahi,” Trivedi told The Pioneer over the phone.
In the meantime, Congress party workers also burnt crackers at party’s State headquarters Congress Bhawan on Monday
evening while exhibiting happiness over Ajit Jogi’s decision to form a new party and move away from Chhattisgarh Congress.
