Congress slams Sushma's comment on Rahul Gandhi

The Opposition Congress party on Saturday criticised senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushma Swaraj for her comments here on Rahul Gandhi.

If she (Sushma) has the courage, she should have countered Rahul’s statement in a public meeting. She could not dare to speak in a public platform on the free and frank comments of Rahul Gandhi, the State Congress spokesman Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said.

If Sushma would have gone to a public meeting and make such baseless and fictitious statement, she could have get appropriate answers from the people, he said.

Accusing her of making false and baseless allegations, the Congress leader said Chief Minister Raman Singh is not a blessing for the State; rather he is a curse who deliberately eliminated the Opposition, rivals, critics and democratic institutions.

People of Chhattisgarh can never excuse him, he said. Sushma must stop her slander campaign in the state. She should not forget that it is her own Bharatiya Janata Party which is in power in the State for the past 10 years.

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi had allegedly said in a public meeting that Chhattisgarh Congress chief Nandkumar Patel was killed because he was all set to become the Chief Minister. Responding to Gandhi’s statement Swaraj had said Rahul should examine within the Congress itself as to who is the culprit.
