Hitting back at the BJP and former Union Minister Ramesh Bais, for blaming it over the delay in the construction of a key canal in Bhatapara under Raipur lok Sabha seat, the Opposition Congress in Chhattisgarh on Monday alleged that it was Chhattisgarh’s ruling party which did not take any interest to complete the project.
State Congress unit said that Bais who is contesting Raipur seat, is telling a lie. “He (Bais) should first tell how the Congress obstructed the project when the BJP has been in power in the State for the last ten yearsIJ” asked Congress.
The statement further said, “Bais visits the Bhatapara area at the time of election and speaks about the canal but he forgets it for the next five years after winning election. Bhatapara canal has just remained as an election promise for Bais,”
“He (Bais) has no intention to complete it. It was because of his ineffectiveness, he has not been able to know what is happening in the region”, the statement informed, adding, “Bais is creating delusion among the people”.
The statement also raised the question stating that “Bais should tell how many times he has met the Chief Minister or the water resources minister over the Bhatapara canal issue,’’.
“Bais is also a senior leader of BJP and he is also in the team which coordinates among the senior leaders. Has he raised this issue in such a meeting and exalt pressure on the Government to complete work,’’ says Sushil Anand Shukla, the State unit spokesman of the Congress.
He further said, “If he raised the issue, then why his voice was not heardIJ The BJP government has never given priority to the Bhatapara canal. Today Ramesh Bais has been shedding crocodile tears at the time of election,’’
