The Chhattisgarh unit of the Congress party is ready to corner the ruling BJP Government in the State over the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department scam during the forthcoming monsoon session of the State Assembly scheduled from July 20.A marathon meeting of Congress legislators was held for finalizing the issues to be raised in the monsoon session here on Wednesday.“The issues on Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department scam would be prominently raised in House,” said leader of Congress legislative Party (ClP) TS Singhdeo.
The Opposition is planning to adopt a fresh strategy for cornering the Government in debates rather than disrupting the House proceedings.It was also decided in the meeting that a group of Congress party legislators will be formed which will work on separate issues and take up issues vehemently in the House, Singhdeo informed. “We are absolutely clear that we do not want to interrupt the House proceedings .Proceedings are interrupted only after we get directions from the Assembly Secretariat that certain matters cannot be discussed citing rules. I personally feel that we achieve very little by disrupting the proceedings.
So we are trying to find some way so that maximum discussion could happen in the House,” he said.According to the ClP, during the monsoon session ,Congress legislators will hold separate meetings every day for formulating the strategy to be adopted the next day.Besides the Civil Supplies scam issues, closing of schools, coal blocks allocation in Chhattisgarh, law and order issue including sexual assault on nun in Raipur, acquiring of land without knowledge of Gram Sabha, construction of barrages, corruption in meter shifting will be also discussed, TS Singhdeo informed.
