The Congress party on Monday issued a statement that Government employees in the insurgency infested pockets of Bastar, have been discharging their duty while in fear of Naxal attacks.
An apology tendered by the Maoists or Chief Minister Raman Singh accusing the Centre over the landmine attack by rebels, on the polling party and security personnel in Bastar cannot bring the dead victims back to life, State Congress Media In-charge Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said in a statement here. He asked that why the Bastar district administration did not ensure a safe return of the employees deployed on election duty at 45 km away from the district headquarters.
Trivedi also questioned as to why the Bastar district administration did not utilise the helicopters stationed at the district headquarters for bringing back the polling team.
Trivedi said that the Maoist attack on the Congress party convoy on May 25 last year lead to the Martyrdom of 31 people, including the then State Congress President Nandkumar Patel, senior leaders Vidyacharan Shukla, Mahendra Karma, Uday Mudaliyar and Dinesh Patel .
