nCongress MLA from Rajim, Amitesh Shukla staged a walkout on the concluding day of the special session of the Chhattisgarh assembly on Thursday protesting non-allotment of time to him to address the historic session convened to commemorate 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik, Ajay Chandrakar, Shivratan Sharma and others urged the chair to allow him to speak.

Brijmohan Agrawal urged the Speaker to intervene and call back Amitesh and allow him to address the session as his family had an association with Mahatma Gandhi when the Father of the Nation had visited Chhattisgarh.

Speaker said the member’s name is not listed in the list of speakers who had been allotted time to address the House. On this cabinet minister Shiv Dahariya said he himself had withdrawn his name keeping in mind the paucity of time.

Amitesh later came back and took his seat. But after Speaker asked Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel to address the session, he again stormed out of the House.

On this, Leader of the Opposition said “individual differences” are now causing friction in state politics.

Amitesh while talking to media said he would be raising the issue in appropriate party forum.
