Congress may pitch Vora against Raman: Mahant

Congress high command has decided to field a strong candidate against Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh. Either veteran Congress leader Motilal Vora or AICC OBC Wing Chief Tamradhwaj Sahu might be fielded against him (Raman), said senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Charandas Mahant.

Mahant while talking to media persons at Sakti, Janjgir-Champa district said the Congress will make all efforts of its best to oust the 15 years long rule of BJP in the state. Asserting that the Congress will take each and every important seat he said, accordingly the party will field the candidates.

Keeping in view the importance of Rajnandgaon constituency seat from where the Chief Minister is going to contest, Congress is planning to field its stalwart Motilal Vora, he said. If Vora declines to fight the assembly elections then Tamradhwaj is the second option before us from there, he said.

Mahant further said that High command has this time instructed all the senior leaders of the state to contest the upcoming assembly polls so that the party is largely benefitted. The decision of fielding Vora also has been taken in wake of it, he informed.

He said that he himself would contest the assembly polls but he however has not disclosed the seat from where he will be going to contest. “Some Members of Parliament could also be fielded this time as Congress will leave no option to stop BJP retaining the power this time”, he added.
