Congress may give LS nominations to some ministers, MLAs

Published on:

Some ministers in the Bhupesh Baghel government and sitting legislators might be asked by the ruling Congress to contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

This possibility was reportedly discussed in the party’s election committee meeting  held at 15, Gurudwara Rakabganj Road in the national capital on Thursday to formulate a poll-strategy for Chhattisgarh.

The meeting chaired by party’s Chhattisgarh in-charge P.L. Punia, was attended by secretaries in- charges for state Chandan Yadav and Arun Uraon, Chief Minister and Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee President, Bhupesh Baghel and other members of the state election committee.  The sources privy to the discussions held in the closed-door meeting said possible names of candidates for all the 11 Lok Sabha constituencies were discussed.

They also ponder over the possibility of roping in some of the ministers in the recently formed Chhattisgarh government and sitting MLAs to contest the polls, sources said.

The venue where the meeting was held is known as Congress’s war room as the party draws and implements its poll-strategy from here.
