The Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) will launch the state-wide  foot march ‘Mahtari Nyay Yatra’ from Pendari village of Bilaspur district from Saturday.

In the aftermath of the sterilization camp surgeries which resulted in the death of over dozen rural women ,  the Congress party decided to launch the foot march to mount pressure on Chief Minister Raman Singh and Health Minister Amar Agrawal  resigning on moral grounds.Meanwhile, CGPCC president, Bhupesh Baghel on Friday also urged Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to cancel his tours and first visit the victims of the sterilization camps.

“PM Narendra Modi is on a campaign tour in Jharkhand but he did not find time to meet the victims of sterilization camps”  stated Baghel during a press conference here in Congress Bhawan. He said that when the Union Health Minister JP Nadda was the  In-charge of Chhattisgarh  for the BJP, he used to tour visit across the State.

Nadda, however after assuming the office, did not turn up to meet the victims, Baghel  alleged.Baghel once again raised other issues including that of handing over probe for the sterilisation tragedy to the same retired judge, whose probe report on another case assigned to her three years ago was yet to be made public. The senior Congress leader claimed that fair probe in sterilization case is impossible until Chief Minister Raman Singh and Health Minister, Amar Agrawal would remain on their post and, thus, they should resign.

Replying on Chief Minister’s remarks on Congress for ‘doing politics’ on the issue by launching the protest-march, Baghel said “our endeavor is to get justice to the victims and punishment for those responsible for the incident”.As per the party’s strategy finalized for the march, a ban will be there on beating drums, bursting crackers and floral welcome of the party leaders during the march.

The national and state-level leaders including MP Bhakta Charan Das, Tamradhwaj Sahu, former chief minister, Ajit Jogi, former Union Minister, Dr Charandas Mahant, CGPCC former president and MlA, Dhanendra Sahu, former Minister, Satyanarayan Sharma, Motilal Vora, Mohsina Kidwai, ClP leader, TS Singhdeo and Bhupesh Baghel will participate in the march.

The march will cover over 100 km journey to reach Raipur on November 27.Meanwhile, the newly elected State President of National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), Akash Sharma extended their support for the march.“Over a dozen women had lost their life in the incident. We will participate in the march to expose the insensitive face of the State government” said Sharma, in a press conference held here.He said that National President of NSUI, Roji John will also participate in the protest march.
