Congress flays Centre for curtailing state’s kerosene quota

Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress on Thursday flayed the Center for curtailing kerosene quota of the state stating the decision was against the interest of the state.

In a statement state general secretary and chairman communication wing of the party Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said the decision taken by the Narendra Modi led union government was anti poor and had affected around 13 lakh ration card holder families of the state.

Trivedi further informed that Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had already demanded increase in kerosene quota, citing that poor families in the state are not getting benefits under Ujjawala scheme due to lack of distributers as well as refilling centers in rural areas.

On an average only a single LPG cylinder has been consumed per year in the state, which clearly testifies that people in the state are dependent on other means of fuel for cooking despite having LPG connections.

Instead of increasing kerosene quota, the Center had curtailed the allotment, taking a decision against the poor people of the state, he claimed.
