Congress does not have face to seek vote: Munat

The minister for public works department (PWD), Rajesh Munat, took a dig at the Congress for not doing anything for the State in the past decade of long rule of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government at the Centre that could be worth mentioning, here on Thursday.

The minister’s strong criticism against the Congress came during a meeting of the party workers in which he took stock of the progress of the election campaign for party candidate from Raipur lok Sabha seat Ramesh Bais.

He alleged that the UPA Government did not do justice to the State and always treated it with step motherly approach and that now, the Congress candidate Satyanarayan Sharma, did not have any face to even seek vote from the people. Sharma despite being minister in the undivided Madhya Pradesh and the Chhattisgarh Government did not have any achievement rather he as an education minister in the

Ajit Jogi Government had the dubious distinction of opening 164 colleges in one room each. The assembly seat, Mandirhasaud, which he has been representing for many terms also remained backward on account of his lack of initiation to fight for the development of the area.

On the contrary, he made the life of the people pathetic, opening a factory that polluted the environment and the local people were up in arms against him, said the minister. According to the minister, Bais as Central minister brought several welfare projects for the State among them, the land right (Patta) to the tribals and other forest dwellers remained outstanding.

Even got a branch of the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), opened Engineering College, got internet connectivity and quality roads among other things.

He also urged party workers to highlight the achievement of Bais and remind the people that the Congress candidate, despite his long political career as legislator and minister did nothing for them. The BJP is also hopeful of winning the seat comfortably riding on the anti-incumbency wave against the UPA.
